Homicide detectives are investigating after a dead body was discovered near the Johns Hopkins University campus on the morning of July 8, officials confirmed.

At 9:06 a.m., officers responded to 3500 Carnegie Way for a report of an adult male lying in a creek, officials said.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with a witness who reported that he was walking his dog along the creek when he noticed the man lying there, prompting him to call 911.

Medics arrived on the scene and pronounced the unidentified man dead at the scene.

Authorities said a medical examiner will perform an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
