As a spring 2025 Baltimore Sun emerging news intern she covered a range of topics including Kermit the Frog becoming UMD’s commencement speaker, crime and sports. Shaela attended the University of Tampa for undergrad then continued on to the University of Maryland, College Park for graduate school. 1,300 fireworks confiscated in Abingdon over 4th of July weekend

During the holiday weekend more than 1,300 fireworks were confiscated in Abingdon following a report of an illegal fireworks show, according to the Maryland State Fire Marshal.
