Cartwright died Nov. 7, 2009 while serving in Afghanistan. This coming Saturday, June 14, 2025 is National Flag Day. The Westminster Elks Lodge #2277 will hold its annual Flag Day ceremony on National Flag Day at 3:30 on Saturday. June 14 is also a birthday of national importance. On June 14, 1775, Congress established the United States Army. Ten companies of "expert riflemen" — approximately 800 soldiers — were originally authorized.
