Scalp micropigmentation (SMP) is a noninvasive hair tattoo that can last longer than a hair transplant. It can create the illusion of a shaved head, help camouflage scalp scars and improve the appearance of thinning hair by making it look thicker and fuller. The results are semi-permanent, meaning they will last for several years before gradually fading.

According to SMP expert Rick Mac, the procedure is safe with few risks or side effects. The results are immediate and will continue to improve over time as the pigment granules settle into the skin. However, touch-ups might be required every few years to maintain the desired appearance. The pigments used are hypoallergenic, and sterile and disposable needles are used in the procedure.

Mac owns MAC SMP, a clinic in White Plains, New York, where can give his clients the look they’ve dreamed of. Some people fear scalp micropigmentation will be painful, but most report only mild discomfort during the procedure. A local anesthetic can be used to numb the treatment area if necessary. Still, Mac says people sometimes become so relaxed that they fall asleep in his chair during the sessions.

The time needed for the procedure will depend on the size and severity of the area to be treated. Treatments are typically completed in three sessions, each lasting around two to three hours, with a follow-up session 30 days after the last treatment to ensure that everything is perfect. The results of scalp micropigmentation are so natural and realistic that no one will ever guess the procedure was done.

Mac has mastered the art of precision tattooing. He spent a full year of research in preparation and another year meticulously practicing on friends before he felt confident enough to provide the highest possible standard of scalp micropigmentation every time. Mac stresses the importance of knowing the equipment “like the back of your hand,” saying he can even tell what voltage his tattoo gun is set on just by feeling its vibrations.

Mac’s success with his clinic has inspired him to expand his business and open a larger facility. He’s also looking for someone as motivated as he was to learn the art and science of scalp micropigmentation, someone he could take under his wing and train to expand the business even more. He’s even thinking about a franchise.

Mac is well-positioned to teach SMP to anyone wishing to learn the craft, and he’s put together a three-to-four-day training course that includes everything necessary for someone to take it to whatever level they want. Scalp micropigmentation can easily integrate with several other professional services; for example, a barber could perform SMP treatments as an additional service to interested customers.

People who opt for scalp micropigmentation feel genuinely changed at the end because it’s a smoother, more efficient and almost therapeutic process compared to some of the other solutions for hair loss that are out there. Schedule your free consultation at MACSMP.com and connect with Mac to discuss your needs. He’ll walk you through the entire process, and you’ll be under no obligation. Payment plans are also available.
