Baltimore weather: Weekend storms, heat to persist into the week

Hot, humid and stormy weather will continue to grip Baltimore, according to the National Weather Service.

On Sunday, expect mostly cloudy skies with a high near 92. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible through the morning and early afternoon, becoming more likely after 2 p.m. The chance of rain is about 60%, with heavier downpours possible in storms.

Showers and storms are expected to continue Sunday night, particularly before 2 a.m., with lows around 78.

Monday brings similar conditions: mostly cloudy with a high near 92 and a 70% chance of showers and thunderstorms, especially after 2 p.m. Overnight, the chance of storms drops slightly, with lows around 77.

The pattern holds through midweek, with highs climbing into the mid-90s Tuesday and Wednesday and daily chances of afternoon storms — 30% on Tuesday, rising to 40% Wednesday. Nights stay warm and muggy, with lows in the upper 70s.

Forecasters warn that storms could bring brief heavy rain, gusty winds and lightning. Residents are advised to stay weather-aware, especially during the late afternoon and evening hours when storms are most likely to develop.
