Kate Cimini

Kate Cimini is the investigative editor for The Baltimore Sun. She previously worked as the Florida investigative reporter for the Naples Daily News and The News-Press, where she reported through Hufficane Ian, investigated a local sheriff accused of money laundering and held accountable a school system that failed to protect its youngest, most vulnerable students from a prolific child predator employed in its schools. She also worked as an investigative and enterprise reporter for The CalMatters Divide, and The Salinas Californian, examining inequity across California through the lens of housing, homelessness, health and agriculture, as well as the COVID-19 pandemic and shutdown. Her series on COVID-19 risks and reporting practices in agriculture resulted in new legislation around state reporting and health practices.Her work has won national, regional, state and local awards, including with SPJ Sigma Delta Chi, the National Press Foundation, Best of the West, Green Eyeshades, and others.
