The Federal Reserve is meant to operate independently from politics in order to stay true to its congressionally mandated mission to maintain price stability and maximum employment. But President Donald Trump hasn't shied from injecting his opinion of the Fed's performance into the public discourse or testing the limits of staying politically neutral.
