Teenager shot and killed inside relative’s home in Parole marks first Annapolis homicide of 2025

Capital Gazette Reporter, Luke Parker.
UPDATED:

A 16-year-old was shot and killed inside a relative’s home Saturday evening, according to the Annapolis Police Department, marking the city’s first homicide of 2025.

Officers responded to the 100 block of Holeclaw Street in Parole at approximately 8 p.m., police spokesperson Miguel Dennis said. The teenager had at least one gunshot wound.

As of Monday morning, no other details, including the victim’s name or relationship to the homeowner, have been released to the public.

Dennis declined to comment further Monday.

Anyone with information on Saturday’s homicide should contact Det. Ashley Paschall at 410-268-9000 x 5743, or on her cell 410-972-8856.

The Parole case is the first homicide investigation led by the Annapolis Police Department this year and the second to take place in Anne Arundel County. Both homicides happened within a five-day span.

On Feb. 3, county police officers found Karon Makhai Cann, 24, lying on the ground outside his Severn home. Cann, who had been shot, was pronounced dead at an area hospital.

Though police in a news release said they had recovered “multiple items of evidence” at the crime scene and interviewed several witnesses, as of Monday morning, no information on a suspect has been released.

Anyone with information that could help the Severn investigation is asked to contact detectives at 410-222-4731. Those who would like to leave an anonymous tip can call the Anne Arundel County Police Tip Line at 410-222-4700.

Anonymous tips for both cases can also be made through Metro Crime Stoppers by calling 866-7LOCKUP (866-756-5287) or visiting their website.

The first homicide investigated last year by Anne Arundel County or Annapolis police was March 4. By the end of the year, there had been 13 homicides, the county’s lowest number in nearly a decade.
