The Baltimore Sun first published 188 years ago today, May 17, 1837. That year, Martin Van Buren was president; Michigan became a state; Charles Lewis Tiffany and John B. Young created a fancy goods emporium that would become Tiffany & Co.; John Deere patented the first commercial steel plow; and John Lea & William Perrins created Worcestershire sauce.
